Q: On the Pirelli site I found that the P1000 is available in the size 165x14. Do you have any experience with those?
I hear that Michelin has stopped production on 165x14. So when the stock is depleted, no more Michelin 165x14.

A1: As far as 165x14 tyres are concerned, on one Fulvia I have Pirellis and on the other one I got Dunlops. In my opinion neither of them is as good as Michelin ones. Their grip on a wet surface is average-poor: for example if you drive off in the wet there is steering snatching and wheel spinning even without any serious attempt to start off really fast. However, the Pirellis are still readily available at least in Italy and thus they may well be the only option to use original size tyres. - Andrea -

A2: I use P4000 185/70 with Cromodora 5"1/2 J wheels and they are very ok. Btw they are not original. If driving rules in your country allow it, you can mount 185/70 without problems. When my father bought the Fulvia I now own, Pirelli tyres were mounted. My father changed very soon to Michelin that worked better.
Be careful that P1000 is designed for low/medium power cars.

A3: I use on my Fulvia 170 65 14 Michelin. They're good but the best are the Falken 170 60 13 (I mount cromodora 13 weels sometime, when I must go on mountain street).
I thought to mount in the next Pirelli Cn 36, a historical race tyre....

Goodyear Grand Prix S
I have now 165x14 Goodyear Grand Prix S on my S3 coupé and 155x14 Goodyear Grand Prix S on my S2 berlina. The Goodyears do fine. They are comfortable, stable, silent and have pretty decent grip on both wet and dry roads. They are also low cost. I paid 475 guilders (USD 290) for five new 155x14 tyres and that included fitting and balancing. I had a curious experience with flat tyres though. Check that section by clicking here.
