Timing the valve gear does really need experience to avoid engine damage. It is a difficult and long job which again can be greatly helped by some special (yet very simple) tools. As indicated to you, I just did it on one of my Fulvias.

Engine bearings are very long lasting if the oil is changed every 3000 km (regardless of use) and the oil filter is also replaced.

You might know that in the engine sump there is an oil strainer which should be cleaned every 60-70,000 Km.

So far my main worry for future survival of Fulvia engines in general is the lack of suitable components to overhaul the oil pump which can wear out earlier than other items. A few years ago I bought simultaneously six oil pumps (used) only to find just one within the Lancia specification.
