Inlet valves as well as outlet valves are made of austenitic steel and have stellite inserts on the tip of the stem. I measured a hardness of 63 Rockwell on the tip, which is better than the original Lancia valves. See test results below.

The austenitic stainless steel used for the valves is X53CrMnNiN219 also known as 21/4N. It is used for high performance inlet and exhaust valves. Excellent at high temperatures. The characteristic hardness does not impair its elasticity. Ideal for unleaded petrol and LPG, which have higher combustion temperatures than the old leaded petrol.

I have tested the tips of several valves for hardness. Here are the results:

Original Lancia:
inlet 54 hrc
exhaust 59 hrc
Note that the original Lancia valves were not made of an austenitic steel.
